So what’s it for, we hear you ask. Well nothing really (although they were used as radio aerials in the Vietnam War!) except entertaining people! Invented by an engineer when he knocked a spring off his desk (we aren’t making this up, honest, Google it!), the Slinky is basically a big coil of metal wire. Doesn’t sound a whole bunch of fun, but Slinky walks down stairs, makes a great juggling toy, and can be turned into a solenoid (if you’re a geek).
