I think it's safe to say that the Freds of this world get a rough deal. It's just not easy rhyming with dead. (There are other names that don't rhyme with great things - Lee with poorly, Phil with ill and Rick with sick, for starters. But they do at least live to tell the tale...) But even so, if you rhyme with dead, then you're done for. Really bad things follow you around, and people are all too ready to wish ill upon you.
Take this groovy rubber desk tidy. It's fantastically fun and macabre, and involves ramming a pen into a dead body. So it's called Fred, poor lad.
But then, it is pretty cool. If you're stuck on the phone to a whining client or bickering in-law, what could be nicer than slowly grinding your pen repeatedly into their make-believe heart?
"You need the document by lunchtime? Of course!" Stab. "We're having spam for dinner tonight? Brilliant!" Stab.
But the stress-busting fun doesn't stop there. Why not make a really small 'POLICE LINE: DO NOT CROSS' ribbon? Or draw round his carcass with a line of Tipp-Ex? You could even place him below a scaled-down replica of a tower block and try and make it look like suicide.
