Venus Flytrap:
With the use of it's bladed leaves, the plant catches, traps and finally digests it's prey. It is one of few plants that can move rapidly. The speed is dependant on humidity, light, size of the prey and general growing conditions. The name 'Venus Flytrap' refers to the Roman Goddess of both love and plant life.
Pitcher Plant:
The Pitcher Plant's trapping device is a tubular shaped leaf lined with downward pointing hairs that create a slippery surface. Once it's prey is trapped inside, it is consumed by digestive juices at the bottom of the tube. It is then digested and converted into the vital nutrients the Pitcher Plant needs.
