If you've ever wondered whether there are aliens in our midst (though a cursory glance at the tabloids should confirm it), then wonder no more. Not only have they landed, but pop your iPhone or iPod Touch into a AppBlaster, and you'll see that they're in your living room, and they're out to get you. The AppBlaster iPhone gun is a brilliantly simple and yet clever piece of armoury that uses the augmented reality of your Apple device to bring an alien attack right into your home. All you do is download the free "Apptoyz Alien Attack" App from the Apple App Store, slot your iPhone or iPod Touch into the AppBlaster and fire it up.

The app uses your camera as a screen, a bit like an H.U.D. in a fighter plane (if you ever happen to have wizzed about in an F16), and as you pan around your room, you view it through your device. But watch out, because you'll soo see little, but deadly, aliens start to appear from around your house, and it's your duty to destroy them. There are two triggers on the AppBlaster, one for missiles and one for smart bombs, but don't think you can blast away with impunity, you'll find your magazine empties pretty darn fast. To reload you point the gun up at the ceiling, and another clip of ammo gets loaded up. 

This is no stand still or slouch on the sofa game, you need to move about to find the little monsters. They could be behind you, above you or below you. The only way to find those one's that are not coming in for a full frontal attack is to use the radar screen on your app which shows you where they're lurking. You'll soon be diving over the sofa, creeping round the fridge, or if you're a jessie hiding in the attic, in your attempts to rid the world of these viscious little aliens.

Fun is just too lame a word to begin to describe how brilliant this gadget is. Not only is the current Alien Attack game a blast, but there are a load more games in development that will make the AppBlaster iPhone Gun the most sought after iPhone accessory in the known universe.
